Danny Lee Clere

Danny Lee Clere 61, of Beckley, West Virginia, surrounded by his nephew David Clere, Jr., and his two nieces Melissa Cutlip and Melony Cain, closed his eyes on earth on February 13, 2025, and opened them to the greetings of smiles and hugs from his family in Heaven. Danny was born on December 9, 1963, in Charleston, West Virginia to the late Millard “Dave” Clere and Naomi “Ruth” Clere (nee Stamper). In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Connie Freeman Clere, his siblings, David Clere Sr., Benjamin Clere, Donald Clere, Mary Virginia Creathers, Brenda Hawley, Phyllis Allman and Betty Keeney as well as a nephew, Michael Phillips and a niece, Michelle Allman. Danny worked briefly as a bookkeeper before relocating to Florida where he worked several different jobs before settling down to work for the state of Florida in food service management. Danny loved gardening, fishing, camping, exploring the state and national parks, softball, bowling and traveling. Danny also taught a work skills class at Chipola Junior College. Danny was strong in his faith and attended the Pilgram Rest Assembly of God, where he taught youth Sunday School in Marianna, Florida. Danny is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends. Danny did not have any children of his own, so he prided himself on always being there for his nieces and nephews as a “bonus” parent. Danny is also survived by his “mama-in-law”, Mrs. Margaret “Maggie” Murphy of Alford, Florida, his brother-in-law, Brian Freeman of Ponce de Leon, Florida and his fiancé, Linda Tucker and his special little loves, Ryleighjo, Savanna and Sammy all of Charleston, WV. Danny was a great storyteller and would always share stories of his childhood, his siblings and their antics as well as passing on his family history which he was proud of. Her was a friend to everyone he met. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home, Huntington, WV are entrusted with arrangements.
