Christopher Cass Ross

April 3, 1965 - February 10, 2022

Christopher Cass Ross, 56, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at his home. Born in Gary, Indiana on April 3, 1965, Chris was the second son born to the late Junious Lee, Sr., and Delores Ann Ross. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, a niece, and two great-nephews. He attended and graduated from Huntington High School and also Mountwest Community and Technical College where he obtained an Associates degree in Culinary Arts. Chris loved all sports, but his heart bled blue and silver for the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys. He was sure to find a silver lining in each game that they played, whether they won or lost. Chris was a highly-respected chef, able to create a variety of mouth-watering dishes and desserts from many multi-ethnic backgrounds. He often baked delicious birthday cakes – from scratch -- for friends and family. In addition to being a much-loved and respected chef, Chris was also a very spiritual man and was involved in numerous church activities. He was often regarded as a fair problem-solver and was undoubtedly the first person whom many reached out to when advice was sought to work out a difficult dilemma. Chris had a quick wit and an infectious sense of humor that will be greatly missed especially by his sons Randy (Jessica) Pleasant of Huntington, WV; and Quenlan “Soldier” (Jasmine) stationed in Jacksonville, FL; and daughters Semone Weathers of Huntington, WV; Rosetta (Bless) Jagne of Huntington, WV; Christina Martin of Charleston, WV; and Cassie Ross of Ashland, KY; his siblings Lindora Smith of Beckley, WV; Cheryl Garner of Charleston, WV; MSG Timothy (Shana) Ross, US Army, Ret. of Killeen, TX.; Patricia Ross of Parkton, NC; Lillian Monroe Thompson of Hickory, NC; David (Jennifer) Pleasant of Akron, OH; David “Spanky” Pleasant of Madison NC; and Ramona Anderson of Sanford, NC; 12 grandchildren; 28 nieces and nephews, 2 great-nieces and 2 great-nephews plus many more cousins and friends. Per his request, Chris will be cremated, and a memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, February 24 at noon, with Rev. Deb Winters officiating
